After listening to many different requests for updates on how we're doing out here in Texas, I've decided to finally start a blog. Most people reading this have probably already read our Vietnam Adoption blog. We haven't updated it in a long time. Mostly because we've been very busy with life altering changes, but mostly because we haven't really felt inspired to write anything of meaning or substance. We have been through a whole whirlwind of emotions since coming back from Vietnam with Esther.
The truth is, the adoption really took a lot out of us. All the emotions that came with waiting for the travel date to pick up Esther to travelling to Vietnam was a emotionally draining experience. One that I still don't think I've completely recovered from. We spent the following months faced with even more life changing decisions such where to move to. We had essentially decided a while ago that staying in Florida wasn't realistically an option. Laura's job in St Pete was closing down before the end of the year and she was offered a relocation offer in Dallas. We had been kicking around the idea of moving for a while but essentially agonized over where and when. We prayed and prayed and didn't feel God was leading us in any particular direction. So we decided to visit Dallas in May to see if that would sway our decision one way or another. Long story short, we moved to Dallas at the end of July.
Which brings us to today. We've been here for a little less than three months now and everything seems to be going well. Laura really likes her new job and the work environment. Kids seem to really like school. Dallas....what can I say about Dallas...not everyone here wears a cowboy hat and speaks with a country twang. I like it here... alot. Sure there are people and things that I miss back in FL. I would be lying if I said that their absence hasn't had an adverse affect on our lives. We miss all of our friends and family dearly. We miss our church. But we realize that we're starting a new chapter in our lives and that involves meeting new friends and finding a new church.
So that's the long and short of it. Hopefully we can do a better job at keeping everyone updated on our newest adventures.
